Weekend Hippy About Us

WHO ARE WEEKEND HIPPY?

In February 2003 a dream was had on the rainy roads of Nottingham. Memories of festivals gone and anticipation of those to come were conjured up. "Wouldn't it be great to have a shop like the festival stalls where you can buy all kinds of festival clothes and fun things?" was the thought! The "thought" was initially dismissed, but the idea remained and grew and by October 2003 Weekend Hippy ws born and open. For three years it flourished finally ending in July 2006 due to other business interests. But now, February 2009, the dream is back and the shop open again in the realms of cyberspace. So welcome and enjoy the site that is Weekend Hippy!! Weekend Hippy Relaunch So here we are, ready to go again!!

In the rainy spring of 2003, our minds went back to the previous years festivals that we had attended and the prospect of a long hot summer and festivals to come. In the course of our meandering and sometimes, drunken, reminisces we realised there was no where within a 30 mile radius of our home where we could buy the wonderful clothing, incense, unusual ethnic art (or even Doc Martens for that matter) that we could purchase at festivals. It was clear and resolved - it was up to us to remedy this situation! For one month and several cold light of days later - nothing happened, and then the conversation and remembered, research was done, premises sought and found, opinions gauged, suppliers found, festivals attended (for research of course!), beer drunk and on the 19th September 2003, we stood, with our keys, at the door of the newly acquired premises, ready to create a new concept in retail therapy. For three happy years Weekend Hippy thrived and was successful, but due to other business interests we had to finally close the shop. For two years the Weekend Hippy languished in cyberspace minding his own business, to be reawakened in February 2009, in this new re-launched website. WELCOME BACK WEEKEND HIPPY!!
